What is
Xeomin?

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the underlying facial muscles as you smile, laugh or frown. These dynamic wrinkles can be dramatically softened with Xeomin, a prescription medicine injected into muscles to temporarily improve the appearance of worry, frown and laugh lines, crows feet, upper lip lines and other dynamic wrinkles.

How does Xeomin work?

Xeomin blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles so they do not contract, preventing the formation of dynamic wrinkles.

Untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected. In the hands of an experienced injector, you will not look unnatural or like you’ve “had work done.”

What benefits can I enjoy from Xeomin?

If dynamic wrinkles can make you look older than you are, Xeomin can smooth these out and give you a more youthful and rested appearance.

Lines around the eyes, forehead and upper lip respond well to Xeomin injections. Xeomin can also be used in the neck region to improve the appearance of platysmal banding. Xeomin does not improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin, as they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions.

Is Xeomin safe?

Xeomin is a simple and safe procedure. Using a tiny needle, a very small amount of Xeomin is injected, very precisely, into several locations on the face.

Because the needle is so fine and only a small amount of liquid is used, the pain associated with the injections is minimal. No anesthetic is required, and you can resume normal activities immediately. Some patients experience a slight temporary bruising at the injection site. This can easily be covered with make-up.

What are the possible side effects of Xeomin?

Following injections with Xeomin Murrieta patients may experience mild temporary bruising. In some cases, Xeomin can migrate and cause a temporary weakness of nearby muscles. In rare cases, there can be a drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression.

The risk of any side effect depends on the muscles injected. Your doctor will discuss this with you before your treatment. Because the effects of neuromodulators are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary, lasting only a few weeks. It is important to seek an experienced injector with advanced training for best results and to minimize the risk of possible side effects.

How long does Xeomin last?

Murrieta Xeomin patients may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injections. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.
